AIMS institute – Fee not remmitted

I payed Rs. 35000 as admission fee for the MBA program in a Bangalore business school called Acharya Institute of Management Studies(AIMS) for the course 2015-17 in June 2015. The classes were supposed to begin in September. However, due to certain change of plans, I couldn’t join there. I phoned and requested the management at AIMS several times to please return the fee i gave but they kept insisting that they would not as it was for seat reservation. I requested them to return at least a portion of the amount, as it was direly needed(and it was my money), but they refused that too by saying no amount would be returned at all. I persisted, I kept calling. Slowly, they made me wait longer in the transit of re-connection, then they tried to avoid by saying the concerned person was not there and finally, they ignored my calls by not picking up at all.

All I ask is, is it really a serious mistake to trust in the so called prestigious institutions to be prestigious. Do the institutes behave this way all around the world. They take up money, these rich, elite, prestigious institutions and not return them back dutifully when the person is not opting for the course there(given, he hasn’t attended the classes at all)?
