LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura, Thiruvanathapuram – Disbursement of the first installment of survival benefits of money back policy reg:-

Respected Sir,

I have a money back policy for an amount of Rs. 5,00,000/- (policy number 783530310). I am paying the premium monthly as my salary deduction without fail of any installment till date. I got a letter (No. 8o K078/CLAIMS/Survival Benefit dated 04/10/2014) regarding the survival benefit of Rs. 1,00,000/- from the LIC office, Pattom, Trivandrum, Kerala in my permanent address at Aluva, Ernakulam, Kerala. Presently I am doing PhD at IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal since July 2012. So I could go to the said office with the documents mentioned (like a cancelled cheque leaf and ID proof) only on 22-12-2014, even though the amount was due on 23-11-2014. Subsequently I got a receipt of the said items and the counter foil of the letter from the customer inquiry section on 22-12-2014. Also I got a message in my mobile citing that my request for NEFT have been registered against my account in SBT, Poojappura. In spite of all these, I got a phone call from 0471 2541674 at around 12.12PM on 27-12-2014 asking me to produce the original policy document for endorsing to disburse the money. When I told that lady, who called me, that such a condition was not mentioned in your letter cited above and it is very much inconvenient for me to go back to my home at Aluva for taking the policy document, she was shouting at me and said that it is impossible to give specific attention to individual policies regarding the necessary documents to be mentioned in the letter. Also she was saying that the cheque for the amount was already prepared and unable to cancel it. When I told her that it was mentioned in the letter for NEFT processing and I got a message citing that my request was already registered for NEFT, she told that If I want money, I should bring the original policy document. This caused an extra to and fro travel from Trivandrum to Aluva. Also this caused extra leave for me and affected my journey plan to IIT Kharagpur. Since I was badly in need of money I did all these and got a cheque for Rs.1,00,000/- (No. 499908 of Corporation Bank dated 29-11-2014) on 31-12-2014.

So I humbly request you to grant me compensation for these extra monetary losses and physical efforts along with mental harassment for getting my survival benefit. Also I humbly request you to take necessary and immediate steps to avoid such inconveniences in future to me or any other customer.

Thanking you.
