astrology – 4 held for stealing data from astrology company

The cyber wing of the Delhi Police has arrested four persons for allegedly stealing documents from an astrology tele-shopping company and selling fake products under the company’s name.

The accused sold fake janamkundalis to clients who were registered with the complainant’s company. Police said in July, they had received a complaint from the director of the company, alleging that the accused persons had also stolen their client data from the company’s call centre.

Police said the complainant alleged that their clients had complained about fake, incomplete and fabricated astrology-related products which were delivered to them.

DCP (Economic Offences Wing) S D Mishra said they found that the accused had used data from the call centre. “Careful analysis of call records, courier delivery receipts and inquiries from the clients revealed that Hathras in UP was the hub of this racket. Based on evidence collected, raids were conducted at all suspected call centres and printing locations run by the accused. We recovered fake astrology books, and computers which they had used to set up the fake call centre,” Mishra said.

Mishra said that the accused persons were identified as Tarun Kumar Agarwal (20), Sanjeev Kumar (23), Giriraj Kishore (30) and Rajesh Narula (39).
During investigation, it was revealed that the Sanjeev and Giriraj have been running a tele-call centre for the past three months. The two contacted clients from the company’s list and printed fake janamkundalis and other astrology books from Narula.

Police said depending on the products, they charged a sum of Rs 10,000-15,000. The three took help from Tarun who had earlier worked with a tele-marketing call centre in Hathras. Police said the four had duped at least 50 persons.
