I had the same experience while transfering my household goods from Mumbai to Goa. I had sent a bed and 3 sofas and a rocking chair. The sofas were all water damamged, the bed was also water damamged and one of the leg of the bed was broken. He did not provide the loaders to unpack the goods and we had to spend separately to unload the tempo. He delayed the delivery and did not respond when we followed up to find out about when delivery would take place. We had held back 15% of the payment which we did not give to him, but hte cost of damages cannot be compensated by the withheld payment.
