On 19/9/2016, it was the turn of one of my close relatvies to be conned by saral vaastu consultant.
Sanjeeva shetty, 62, a resident of shankarnagar bangalore made a call that evening in response to a tv ad. A consultant was at their house within 2 hours. Mr sanjeeva wanted only an initial consultation and wanted to proceed further only after checking with his adult children (Who were all at work when the consultant visited). However, the saral vastu consultant swayed him by playing the usual health, wealth and relationship card and how things are going to get worse if mr sanjeev did not act immediately. He cornered/forced mr sanjeev into buying the box with a bunch of items (Stickers, crystals and other cheap fancy store stuff, that is supposed to make things better when placed in specified nooks and crannies of the house) immediately, for an exorbitant price of rs 11000, stating that the consultants are extremely occupied and it will take 4-6 months to get another appointment. All this happened while mr sanjeev’s wife vocally expressed that she does not want to proceed further and buy those items.

As usual, their receipt does not mention the amount collected and their guarantee card adds disclaimers specifying multiple times that personal luck is responsible for good results. (Just this goes to show the level of scam this is).

The next day, when mr sanjeev’s son & daughter called the saral vaastu office to complain of this con and get a refund. However, the only response received were their carefully contrived terms conditions read out over and over again by customer care associates in a tone comparable only to trained parrots.

The relationships and mental peace in their house is more damaged now after this saral vaasthu incident.

The older generation is the primary target for these firms as they can be easily swayed with talk on health, wealth and relationships. So, i strongly urge the educated community who might be reading this post to educate elders in you family (Parents/uncles/aunts etc.) of this menace.
This is the only way we can put an end these scam artists. As, once you place your money in their hands, there is no way of having a conversation with them unless they see a potential of more business from you.
