Tim Hortons – Negligence re: water

Hello – I was at the Tim Hortons kiosk in Markham-Stouffville Hospital in Markham, Ontario and asked for water in order to take my medication. Due to disability I did not have enough money to afford a $4 bottle of water, and was clearly in distress, but I was told I would still be charged for a small cup of tap water. I looked up Canadian law around this and believe this falls under negligence; I needed drinking water to take important medication and nearly had a bad reaction running around trying to find somewhere that would give me water after that. I don’t want to get a barista in trouble as I’m sure there’s some sort of policy they were following. But it’s frankly ridiculous and dangerous for Tim’s locations inside hospitals to be denying people drinking water. I hope there will be some sort of policy change surrounding this. I am likely not the first and will not be the last to nearly or actually have a medical emergency from being denied water.
