A V Hospital, South End Circle, Bangalore – Worst experience at A. V. Hospital from Dr. Gopika

I have been taking my Wife to A. V. Hospital on Pattalamma Street, Jayanagar, Bangalore for check up since she is

carrying and in 4th Month, this was the third time we went there and like every time we greeted Doctor Gokia Rajesh

with smile. It was supposed to be a normal check up. She asked to get the Scanning done but we mentioned that getting

the scanning done every month may not be good for the baby as it will be piercing the rays through the a baby which

will be some 6-10 CMs length. we were little worried with these modern technologies should not harm baby and it

should be natural treatment/check up. Hearing to this doctor Gopika started getting angry on us by saying who told u

all this and get them infront of me. I am an experienced Doctor and you people are doubting my experience. She

started shouting at us with some technical terms that babu will have some kind of genetic problems and she will not

be responsible for any such abnormalities. I couldnt understand what she meant as i am not so knowledgable in these

matters. I thought for a while a doctor who is refusing to take responsibility of her patients and scaring us with

some technical terms is showing how matured she is or is she so bent on getting the scanning done because her husband

is in the next building Mr Rajesh (Arundhathi Untra Scan Sound Centre) who doesn this scanning and gets around 750/-?

Lot of things were going through my mind and i was standing there speechless and helpless as i was not sure what to

do. All we wanted was to get the Scanning done only in the month of 5th, 7th and 9th. Just to mention we already have

got the scanning done twice and the reports are showing everything normal and progressive in last two months. I asked

her is scanning the only way to do check up and are there no other check ups that we can do? I saw frustration on her

face she she grabbed BP checking pad and started showing anger to us telling us yes we can do but it will cost u

3500/- something. I said its not about the money but its about the safety of the baby and about healthy baby. With

anger she started preparing for BP check up. I felt that its not right from Doctors part to check patients just

technically and mechanically but to get involved with patients understanding our feelings and responding to our

feelings. Making us understand how it is very much necessary to get the scanning done but i was puzzled to see such a

rude behaviour and treating us like that when we are there to know how our unborn baby is. I felt very sad at the way

she is treating us and asked her only one thing. “Doctor please do the check up only if you are interested from the

heart and not with such angry and diluted environment. Its a service we are expecting” She said ” I am not interested

in doing the checkup when u r not getting the scanning done”. I realised the situation that its not good for us to

get the BP or other checkings done when doctor doesnt understand our feelings and instead of making us understand

like a responsible and elderly person of such experience is treating us like a thrash bin. Its all about the service

and the respect to patient like they are human being. I humbly asked Dr Gopika to give back the documents and said

thanks for the service and simply walked away from there without making any noise like shouting on Doctor or anything

as there were many parents with baby and pregnant ladies. Its doctors who make the Hospital experience memorable one

but i was unlucky and sad to get such response from experienced doctor like that. My complain is simple. Doctors

should show courtesy towards their patients who hardly know any technicalalities and make them understand what all

these means, put confidence and happiness in our face. Its a service right? Finally i was dejected and feelings sad

to see my wife going thorugh sad situation just because we decided to continue visiting A V Hospital. All this

incident happned today (19 May 2013 at around 8:00 PM). I hope some one from A. V. Hospital, 9, Patalamma Street, Basavangudi, near South End Circle Blore looks into this matter and make the doctor understand about hospitality. Any one from AV Hospital can contact me at [email protected]

  1. Well we changed to the Apollo Hospital near Bannerghatta Road and to tell the truth we had an awesome experience. Thanks to Dr. Chitra and Dr. Anjum and all the staff. We are absolutely delighted for the care taken by them and we had a worry free experience of our new born. We have now continued showing our baby also here to Apollo pediatrician.
Thank God that we took a quick decision and moved away from A. V. Hospital and Dr. Gopika. Sometimes its wise to keep away from negative energy.

  2. GIVE A COMPLAINT TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE HOSPITAL ABOUT THIS AND SEE THEIR ACTION.IF THEY DIDN’T TAKE ANY ACTION, GIVE A COMPLAINT TO THE CONSUMER COURT, FOR UNNECESSARY HARASSMENT ALSO AMOUNT TO “DEFICIENCY OF SERVICES”
