I had joined Fitness First in April 2013 and had committed to a minimum period of 6 months. Since I wasn’t in town for a month in between, I froze my account in June 2013 and resumed in July. In August, I decided to discontinue and informed Fitness First that September would be the last month.I was informed that since I had frozen 1 month in between, my membership could be terminated only by Nov 2013. I had sent a formal mail asking for termination on Oct 29, 2013 and paid for all months including Nov 2013 though I didnt use the services of the club in Oct and Nov. I did not get any acknowledgement for my termination request in Oct. After repeated phone calls, I was informed towards the end of November that I would need to pay for December too since that would be the ‘Notice Period’. This is no employment for me, to be giving them a notice period. Also, if there was a notice period, I had informed them verbally in August and formally over mail in Oct which would make Nov the ‘Notice period’. With this additional notice period, it is a min commitment of 7 months and not 6 months as they claim. Now they have started harassing me via phone calls for payments and the executives are extremely rude. FF needs to reassess its policies if it needs continued patronage and the way CUSTOMERS are treated. We pay for services and hence we are CUSTOMERS as against their belief that we are only members.
