Videos are being made of an elderly woman’s home and personal property who is in fact his grandmother. His claim is to restore her home to livable condition yet has only torn down majority of house. Also selling off property to antique dealers for income. Bessie J. G. Mallard is deaf and unaware of all he has done and the extent her home has been posted in his videos on you tube. A complaint has been lodged against him for elder abuse and exploitation. The SideStep Adventures by Robert G. Wright is used to exploit personal lives and to receive money from dealers for antiquities he posts on his youtube site. The historical society has already denied his claim. There is no legal contract for him to have control over this house or property located at 508 Ridgeway Rd. Waverly Hall Ga. 31831. B.J.G.M. is 86 years old and totally deaf,

I live in Texas and I am 87 years old. I started watching Robert’s videos of The Old Byrd Farm three years or so ago and I really enjoyed seeing the work her did on it and the progress he made. It helped me to occupy my days in a pleasant way. I wondered what happened to him when there were no more videos made and posted. I also enjoyed the Sidestep videos he made and posted. The history of that part of the country was interesting to see. I don’t believe for one minute that he was doing anything wrong or illegal. Shame on the person or persons who said so. Robert, please go back and finish restoring the house so that I can see how it looks while I am still here. God Bless you and keep you in His care. Lucille Faubus, in Texas
So now I learn that this complaint is coming from another relative who was caught stealing from the home and perhaps left out of the will. Talk about elderly abuse Denise. Seems Robert outed you out below. I hope by now you are are sitting in jail and this is the reason that this site hasn’t ceased. SHAME ON YOU.
Robert Wright is a direct descendent of the owner, being a grandchild. How do you not know if this farm was willed to him? You don’t, I don’t. How can it be elderly abuse when the woman could not even live in the home?
Seems you are bitter and looking for your 15 minutes. Restoring a home is expensive. He’s doing the work himself. Making or selling trash or other items found at the home isn’t abuse. I’ve watched many of his videos including the restoring of the Old Byrd Farm.
If you are so concerned, then print your name and show the world you aren’t just a keyboard Karen. You are hiding behind your initials.

He is a good person and works tirelessly. No hard working self made man should not be taken down like this. There a lot of jealously out there for hard workers like him.
I have watched the videos and you are making false accusations. . Robert has worked tirelessly cleaning that place up, he has put several new windows in and a new roof. Gas is not cheap to mow and clean the fields . The only thing he removed on the house was a very rotten wall in the back which he replaced very soon afterwards. This home has rotten floors from the old roof that was leaking for years and he will fix the floors soon. Shame on you for trying to smear his reputation, if you were so concerned about the house, then you should have stepped up and started the massive job to save the place. It is very expensive to do the work he has done and if he profits a few dollars then he has earned it. I do not know Robert and have never been there but he shows everything he has done on video and it is more than anyone else tried to do..
Obviously no one can trust complaintlist.com! The site should be taken down if ANYONE can say ANYTHING about ANYONE without them checking their source. What a horrible site. Keep up the good work Robert and I’d sue her and them!
I Do Not believe that Robert is tryin to steal anything! I think others are jealous and want to try get this themselves. He’s cleaning the place up. His grandmother may be old but not all old people are crazy! Leave him alone!!!!
This claim against the man should be taken down from the internet. It is not right to air your personal info or to try and ruin someone’s reputation like this. It draws attention in a negative way to something that only deserves good attention, so I encourage any positive thoughts about Mr. Wright to be added to the comments here as I hope my will do to stop this from continuing.
It sounds like D.F.M.T.’s only beef is that she got caught stealing from the property in question, has been banned from the property, and no longer has access to the antiques that she is/was probably selling for her own gain.

If you read the obituary of Bessie Jewel Green Mallard, died April 17, 2021 it will clearly show who are the relatives and their relationship with with the deceased.
Love your program. I live in Virginia but my mother was from Big Springs GA. You did a program on the Flowers Newsome cemetery. Just down the road is the Flowers Newsome Plantation. They are distant relatives.. When I was a kid in the 50’s my cousins and I would play in that old empty house. There is another family cemetery near there up on the side of a heavily wooded area. I loved being there in the many summers I spent in Big Springs and LA Grange. My grandfather had the only store in Big Springs, one gas pump! Keep digging these places up they deserve respect. Thanks

“Selling off property to Antique Dealers for Profit”…. Really? I’ve been watching his Channel for months now and all I’ve seen is videos of him clearing Wisteria off the property. The items inside the house I would NOT consider “of value”. At least not things any Antique Dealer is going to be interested in. DFMT needs to get a life. Or a Hobby.
The impetus behind the complaint lodged by the person identified by Robert G. Wright is to clear her name of the proof of her pilfering items from the property on Ridgeway Rd., then selling these items. The proof of her thievery is on visual media owned by Mr. Wright. She has added accusations of elder abuse and exploitation that have been refuted by the daughter of the elderly woman identified by this person. This person is reprehensible and needs to cease and desist her defamatory and false statements as demanded by Mr. Wright.
Robert is a good man. I have been watching his channels for a few years now. He is restoring that old farm with his own two hands. If he gets donations so what? Very stand up and intelligent guy. Leave him alone!
Read this for the first time. I can’t believe that any of this is true. Robert Wright is a hard working young man who is gaining nothing by trying to restore an old abandon farm site. He is taking us along for the ride, and millions of us are living vicariously through him, enjoying every minute. It is absolutely obvious that he loves the land and the history. I can only hope and pray that this travesty of justice is rectified and that his good name is cleared. Now, I’ll go back to the Old Byrd Farm videos and hope Robert is feeling 100% very soon.

Just recently came across his site. Totally enjoy watching, as I have memories I seeking out and viewing old abandoned homes in my childhood. ( Till parents found out and lectured us on safety Of going into them. Just from what I have watched, sounds like she is the one that stoked items from property, just saying. I want to respond to the complaint posted by D.F.M.T. against Robert G. Wright. I am very familiar with the situation and the parties involved and I want to warn D.F.M.T. that since her claims against Robert G. Wright are false, and she knows it, she is opening herself up to the possibility of being charged with defamation by libel. I won’t post her full name online, as she did the “elderly woman” she is supposedly defending, but I most certainly do know her full name and I know the truth of what’s going on. Truth that is actually very easy to prove. So, anyone reading this, please know that her attempts to defame Robert G. Wright come out of something other than a desire to defend the “elderly woman” in question.

Miss Bessie J Mallard is regularly watching the videos of the work Robert Wright is doing at her former residence. Not only is she well aware of everything he is doing, but she signed legal paperwork granting him legal control over the property. I know because I am the daughter of Miss Bessie J Mallard. The complaint is false.
She is going to cause great harm by posting the address publicly online. This needs to be taken down.

I find that so ironic. The one person who sincerely cares about the history of this state, uses his time and much effort to fix up this poorly dilapidated structure. And now he is accused of this heresy! I hope that she really thinks about what she is doing. Especially since she has been viewed on the CCTV. I don’t need any explanation from her. I find it ironic how this article targets Robert Wright of Sidestep Adventures, especially when Sidestep Adventures is made up of several different people. I am thinking the person who stole the “antiques” from the property referred to in this article wrote this complaint. Furthermore, I question how would he/she know she is blind, is he/she a relative who will not benefit from her estate?
I believe that Robert Wright and a relative of Miss Bessie’s Mallard’s, have struck a deal that is a “win-win” for the two of them. Robert fixes up the outside of the property (for right now) while being able to film for his YouTube channel. He will benefit financially using this platform in the form of revenues. And then, Miss Bessie and/or her heirs will benefit from the property being improved as any improvements to the property will increase the value of it no matter what they decide to do with it at a later date.
Why would Robert sell the “antiques” referred to in the article if he is earning money from his work on the property all while filming and then uploading the videos for his YouTube channel? Also, why would he invest his own money or his earned income into the tools and machinery in order for him to do the work and film? The person who filed the complaint is blowing smoke to hide he/her own bad behvaior!
Probably his ex wife who is a drug addict and wants some of the money he makes. He owns the property now so the claim is dead
