Ordered over 100aed in food from a Pakistani restaurant that requires bread to eat with. Food arrives but when I open it the bread I ordered was missing. So I contacted Talabat and informed them. They gave me two options take the 15aed refund for the bread or wait for them to send new bread (please note the restaurant is 20 mins away from me and that won’t include the item it would take them to send their driver there to collect the bread either).
This annoyed me as what can I do, without bread the food is useless to eat and with bread the food would be cold. I told them to just cancel and pick up their food and cancel the order.
The customer chat representative Muhammad said he understood my request and agreed that without bread what I ordered is useless. He said he didn’t have the power to refund me but that he would pass it to his manager and he hoped she would be able to resolve it.
The manager, Basma, then calls me and tells me that they have refunded me 15aed back as credit and wont refund me full amount as I had received the food. I tell her it’s not acceptable and that I want a full refund. She says it’s not possible and that they can’t do anything about it.
Then after a little back and forth we end the call and I wasn’t happy that they understood that it was their fault but refused to refund me for my food. Why should I have to pay for someone else’s mistake? It’s my money and I think I have the right to receive hot/warm food if I’m paying for it. Not half the order and the other half 45 mins later.
Oh and since I was making the complaint through the I think Muhammad had made the restaurant send fresh warm bread. Too bad it only arrived a whole 45 mins after the first half of the order.
I consider this as theft as even though they accept they are not willing to refund. This isn’t my first time having problems with them either. Their delivery service has really fallen, from ‘supposed flat tires’ to other excuses.
I know Dubai isn’t known for service but talabat really takes the crown.
0/10. Don’t use them, use anybody else. I’ve spoken to restaurants and they asked my to use any other service
If you have their app delete it. Noon, Careem, Deliveroo, any others and you will have a better experience.
Talabat if you ever read this, I still want my money back. It’s my hard earned money not Monopoly money.
