Carrefour
I am an American from Dallas, Texas. Both my husband and I are elderly and walk with canes. Today in the Carrefore store located at the DuPont address in Carcassonne, France, we had the worst experience we have ever had at a Carrefore store. At the checkout, I had to show what was inside a bag I had purchased outside Carrefore and she had to look at the Carrefore bags I had purchased a couple of days ago. My husband had to go to the toilet, but she demanded he walk to the other side of the store to exit and then walk all the way back the other direction to go to the toilet.
She kept pointing and yelling at him. My husband is 78 years old. She was extremely rude, disrespectful, and very confrontational. At the completion of the checkout, she then proceeded to attempt to charge me again for the Carrefore bags which she had already seen I had folded in my basket. She yelled at us in French as we explained we did not speak French. She then yelled for another person to come over who also spoke to us in French and said no English and she told our checker to continue to charge us again for the bags. Finally, they got another employee to come over who did speak English who explained to the checker what had happened. Truthfully, both my husband and I felt like criminals with the treatment we received. While we don’t speak French, we did nothing wrong. The only person who apologized to us was the one who spoke French and English. We did not expect such terrible treatment in Carrefore. Your products have always been excellent. However, customer service at this store was inexcusable.
