I booked a 5N/6D holiday to Singapore through Cox & Kings Mumbai, paying Rs. 1.74L for 3 pax. I was travelling with my wife and a 12 years old son.
I am giving below summary of my grievances with the tour operator.
1.BOOKED GROUP TOUR, BUT THERE WAS NO GROUP!!
I had booked for a group tour as we did not have any other friends/family travelling with us. A group tour would provide comfort & company of a fellow passengers in an unknown country. I was promised a group tour by Cox & Kings’ Sales agent Mr. Asif Siddiqui. I was told that there would be 15-20 families travelling together and staying in same hotel. However it turned out that there was no group! There were no fellow passengers in my hotel! The tour was subcontracted to a local tour operator who would gather families from different hotels for excursions. There was no fun as throughout the tour we were alone .
2.HOTEL IN A REMOTE LOCATION!
My package did not have lunch & dinner. However I was promised that hotel would be in Indian locality in Singapore so that we could easily walk-down to Indian restaurants for meal. It turned out that our hotel was at least 20 mins drive from Indian locality. Everyday I had to spend additional time & money to get to my hotel from Indian restaurants.
3.PROMISED FOOD PREFERENCE NOT PROVIDED
I had specifically requested for ‘Jain’ food and was promised so. However in the hotel, nobody understood ‘Jain’ food, let alone preparation. We got one jain dish in the breakfast only for day.
Dear Sir/Madam, my wife & I saved for months for this trip. What was supposed to be a memorable vacation turned out to be a lonely tour. Had Cox & Kings informed me that this would not be a group tour, I would have booked through another operator, who would give group tour. We feel we were cheated by Cox & Kings by hiding information & misleading us.
Hence I request the honourable consumer forum to help me get from Cox & Kings India –
-Full refund of my tour money, which is Rs. 1.74 lakhs.
I will be happy to be present in-person in Consumer Court for this matter if required or provide any additional details.
